6-10-21 THOUGHTS

David’s prayer as Israel prepares to build the Temple,  sets the tone for all ages as man seeks to pray to God.  This is a public prayer.  David  puts GOD IN HIS PLACE.  Then David turns to himself and Israel.  “Who am I?”  Sojourners and tenants, like a shadow with no hope are the terms.   Then, “it is from your hand, and it is all yours!”

1Chron 29:10-16    So David blessed the LORD in the sight of all the assembly; and David said, "Blessed are You, O LORD God of Israel our father, forever and ever. 11  "Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth; Yours is the dominion, O LORD, and You exalt Yourself as head over all. 12  "Both riches and honor come from You, and You rule over all, and in Your hand is power and might; and it lies in Your hand to make great and to strengthen everyone. 13  "Now therefore, our God, we thank You, and praise Your glorious name. 14  "But who am I and who are my people that we should be able to offer as generously as this? For all things come from You, and from Your hand we have given You. 15  "For we are sojourners before You, and tenants, as all our fathers were; our days on the earth are like a shadow, and there is no hope.  16  "O LORD our God, all this abundance that we have provided to build You a house for Your holy name, it is from Your hand, and all is Yours.

1Tim 1:17  Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
1Tim 6:13-16  I charge you in the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who testified the good confession before Pontius Pilate, 14  that you keep the commandment without stain or reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,  which He will bring about at the proper time —  He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords,  16  who alone possesses immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see. To Him be honor and eternal dominion! Amen.
Jude 1:25  to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.

We need to see the NATURE OF OUR GOD continually.  The terms describing HIM in the verses above give us jolting reality,  for HE IS AN  AWESOME GOD!  This thinking always blesses us.

My Prayer:
O God of all,  to you be glory and honor and dominion and authority.  Be always mindful of us for we are  weak.  May our hearts be always heaven minded.  May we ever contemplate your glory.  Some day O Lord, may we see you face to face.  Prepare us continually for that time.  Thank you for the victory that is in Christ Jesus.        In His name we pray.      Amen
